Alvecote to Hopwas…..

Another bright morning, with clouds drifting across the sun occasionally.  A nice tootle along with views to die for until we reached Fazeley, the junction of the Coventry canal and the Birmingham and Fazeley canal.

and hung a right to continue on the Coventry.  We filled with water and got rid of the 3 sacks of rubbish that Rog cleared out of the lockers yesterday at Peels Wharf.

Along the way we spotted a very nice Yamaha motorbike half submerged in the canal, with a couple of blokes sitting in a van in the field on the offside, opposite the bike – perhaps they were waiting for a tow truck to come and pull it out.  A little further along there was a sunken boat.  Always a sad sight.  As we drew level we could hear a pump working valiantly to clear the water from inside, in the hope of re-floating the boat.

We are now moored in our usual spot in Hopwas, beside the Primary School.  We have partaken of Sunday lunch at the Tame Otter (well, it would have been rude not to!) and are now replete.  I think I feel a Sunday afternoon snooze coming on!

6.7 miles and 2 locks
