Ellesmere to Maestermyn…

Another dull and grey day today as we left Ellesmere.  The wind got increasingly stronger and rain threatened as we neared Frankton Junction.  We had a short shower and then the sun came out for a few minutes, but it didn’t last.  As we neared Maestermyn the sky became very black and we decided to call it a day – just in time!  We are now moored a little way past the hire boat base, between Bridges 6w and 7w. (The bridge numbers start again at Frankton Junction, suffixed with a ‘W’, the original numbers carry on up the Montgomery Canal).

  1. I hope you've got time to do the Montgomery Canal as well, on your way back. We loved it down there -- quiet, beautiful, and quite magical in places, with a great pub (The Navigation at Measbury Marsh) near the end. We did it last September, and it was quite a shock to come back out into the hire boat madness of the Llangollen!
